What you should know: A simple upgrade path from Windows XP to Windows 7 is not supported. Instead, you will be required to backup personal files and install a clean copy of Windows 7. If you're an XP user and you're unsure whether or not your computer is capable of running Windows 7, Microsoft suggests downloading their Windows Upgrade Adviser (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx)

Upgrading from an eligible version of Vista to Windows 7 should be as easy as inserting a disk and clicking continue. Although, in some cases a clean installation may be necessary. It is also advised to back up your files before upgrading.
